Objectworld Expands Plug-and-Play Support for Aastra’s Family of IP Phones

New interoperability enables rapid deployment in less than 15 minutes, says the company.

Ottawa, Canada-based Objectworld Communications Corp., a provider of unified communications (UC) software solutions, has announced expanded support for Aastra’s family of SIP telephones. All of the Concord, Canada-based company’s SIP phones are now certified as interoperable with Objectworld’s UC solution and can be deployed in less than 15 minutes per user, according to Objectword, which also says the new support provides more options to implement UC to small business users cost-effectively.†

Objectworld UC Server now supports Aastra’s complete family SIP Phones, with added support for the 6730i/6731i, 6751i, 6753i, 6755i, 6757i, 9143i, and 9480i. This extends UC Server’s previous Connect Plus level support for the Aastra 9112i, 9133i, and 480i IP phones. The new interoperabilitycombines features such as Aastra’s XML browser capabilities with Objectworld’s Microsoft-based UC, VoIP, and communications-enabled business process (CEBP) solutions to allow users to customize applications for business-specific and vertical markets.

With this new support for Aastra phones, UC Server resellers can now acquire the components of a combined Objectworld and Aastra UC solution from a common distributor, Jenne Distributors of Avon, Ohio.

†”If open standards are to be of true value, it is important that customers can choose an IP phone, such as Aastra offers, which meets their specific needs without having to worry about system integrity,” says David Levy, Objectworld president and CEO.

Designed for use by SMBs, UC Server provides a complete UC solution with a single piece of software managed by one management system integrated with Microsoft Active Directory.† The UC Server is available in three editions: CEBP Edition for communications-enabled applications, Standard Edition for use with existing PBXs, and SIP Edition for all-in-one Windows-based VoIP solutions.†

It provides a range of capabilities such as integration with existing PBXs, integral SIP PBX, SIP trunking, unified messaging, fax server, paging server, graphical drag and drop service creation, inbound and outbound IVR services, personal assistants, one-number services, call-redirection services, notifications, autoattendants, mobile and teleworker support, and more.

“We are pleased to see the support by Objectworld UC Server of our line of 67xi and 91xi SIP phones,” says Tim Whittington, senior VP and general manager for Aastra USA. “This provides Microsoft channel partners selling into small and medium sized businesses with a new option to use Aastra SIP Phones where the partner and their customers can realize the benefits of a unified communications solution with tight integration into their IT infrastructure such as Windows SBS and EBS.”
