Network Box Unveils S-Series Family of UTM Devices

New unified threat management line features Gigabit Ethernet ports and Intel processors, and is targeted to small, branch, and home offices.

Houston-based Network Box USA, Inc., the American arm of managed security company Network Box Corp., has unveiled its new S-Series family of unified threat management (UTM) appliances. The three new models are targeted to small offices, branch offices. and home offices.

The Network Box S-Series UTMs (Models S-25, S-35 and S-85) feature Gigabit Ethernet ports and fast Intel processors. The units have no moving parts; the usual CPU/motherboard layout is inverted, turning the top of the case into a heat sink so that no fan is required, even when operating at full processor speed.

Models S-25 and S-35 (replacing the S-50) are designed for small offices and branch offices requiring virtual private network, firewall, and intrusion prevention functionality. They have a gigabyte of random access memory (RAM) and come with Network Box firmware on a 2-gigabyte compact flash. The S-25 model is diskless, engineered for use with a centralized logging server, while the S-35 model yields an additional 32 gigabytes of solid state drive (SSD) storage for logs and database. The firewall-plus service package Network Box USA offers provides a low-cost solution for connecting remote offices back to a central location.

The S-85 boasts three times the network throughput and double the memory of the S-80 model it replaces. The new model features 2 gigabytes of RAM and can be used with full UTM services for up to 10 users. The device also comes with Network Box firmware on a 2-gigabyte industrial-grade compact flash and 32 gigabytes of SSD storage. Designed for small offices, branch offices and homes requiring full Network Box UTM, content filtering or anti-virus services, the S-85 offers an affordable solution for deploying effective managed Internet threat protection, including all advanced Network Box services and options.

All three S-Series models include five Ethernet ports – four 10/100/1000baseTX and one 10/100baseTX. Full support is provided for Network Box advanced services–such as load balancing, quality of service, and advanced policy based routing–and the units are fully managed and monitored from the Network Box Global Management System.

Additional information on the S-Series, including technical specifications, is available at www.networkboxusa.com.
