Netgear’s ProSafe Quad WAN Gigabit SSL VPN Firewall Makes Its Debut
For less than $500, the virtual private network offers high-performance, multidimensional security with 1Gbps firewall throughput.
This week, Netgear introduced the ProSafe Quad WAN Gigabit SSL VPN Firewall (SRX5308). It’s a business firewall for SMBs that provides in excess of 1 GB per second (Gbps) performance, and it comes under $500.
“As the speed of WAN connections rise, and users turn to virtualization and cloud computing services, businesses need line-rate security devices that meet corporate governance requirements, but also fall within budgetary requirements,” states Netgear in a press release it supplied to EH Publishing.
The Netgear ProSafe VPN Firewall family delivers these requirements, says its maker, as a virtual private network (VPN) that provides high performance, multi-dimensional business-class security with 1Gbps firewall throughput.
With four Gigabit WAN ports for session-based load balancing, the firewall gives customers a secure, “no compromises network that can support sophisticated multimedia and the higher throughput applications they need to grow their businesses,” says Netgear.
The ProSafe Quad WAN Gigabit SSL VPN Firewall features a hardware-accelerated data flow architecture that enables 1 Gbps LAN-to-WAN of stateful firewall throughput. Further, the unit enables building VPN tunnels for corporate office access to centralized data via the IP security (IPsec) standard or software clientless secure socket layers (SSLs).
The SRX5308 firewall supports up to 125 IPsec VPN tunnels and 50 SSL VPN tunnels simultaneously. IPsec VPN tunnels deliver secure site-to-site tunnels connecting multiple offices together as well as client-based remote access. In addition, the SSL VPNs support industry-strength encryption algorithms and features, such as automatic cache cleanup.
The firewall VPN router is a high-performance, SNMP-manageable network solution furnishing multidimensional security, including denial-of-service attack protection, stateful packet inspection, URL keyword filtering, SYSLOG support, configurable hardware DMZ port, e-mail reporting, logging, and real-time alerts.
Quality-of-Service, WAN traffic metering, and bandwidth profiling give network managers granular bandwidth management capabilities.
