N-able Ships Managed EDR Service

An optional add-on to the vendor’s SentinelOne-powered EDR solution, N-able Managed Endpoint Detection and Response provides 24/7/365 assistance from security analysts at SentinelOne’s security operations center.

N-able has introduced a managed threat monitoring, hunting, and response accompaniment to its SentinelOne-based EDR solution.

The new service, called N-able Managed Endpoint Detection and Response, is an optional, separately priced add-on to N-able Endpoint Detection and Response that gives subscribers 24/7/365 access to outsourced assistance from security analysts at the security operations center responsible for SentinelOne’s Vigilance Respond service.

“All the telemetry that your endpoint collects goes into the SOC team, they analyze, triage, and then they work the threats,” says Troels Rasmussen, N-able’s general manager of security product. SentinelOne contacts the MSP, rather than the end user, when remediation requires further action.

The upshot for N-able partners, according to Rasmussen, is enterprise-grade security expertise with a low barrier to entry. “It’s easy to get into,” he says. “You don’t have a big upfront CapEx investment. You’re all OpEx.”

Global spending on MDR services will climb at a 20.2% CAGR through 2025 to $2.15 billion, according to Gartner. The increasingly complex threat landscape channel pros and their clients must navigate is a big reason why, Rasmussen says. “It’s becoming harder and harder to stay protected and to protect your clients,” he notes. “Providing this service helps our MSPs provide even greater and broader coverage.”

Outsourcing EDR management to SentinelOne makes coping with today’s massive cybersecurity skills gap easier for MSPs as well, Rasmussen adds. Indeed, while job postings for the technology industry overall dropped 8% year over year in the U.S. last December, according to GlobalData, they rose by 36% for the cybersecurity space.

“Getting security analysts is hard and they’re expensive,” Rasmussen observes.

Though partners can buy Vigilance Respond services directly from SentinelOne, Rasmussen says that most find purchasing through N-able easier. “Most MSPs prefer the relationship with us because we facilitate the integration and the experience from a product perspective, but also have good pricing and packaging that accommodates an MSP’s needs.”

Today’s announcement is the latest extension of a strategic relationship dating back to 2019, when N-able (then still part of SolarWinds) rolled out its first SentinelOne-powered EDR solution. N-able integrated that system with its cloud-based RMM platform the following year.

ConnectWise offers EDR software and an MDR service in collaboration with SentinelOne too. Kaseya, meanwhile, provides MDR services through its RocketCyber business unit.

Huntress unveiled a managed EDR solution of its own last August, one month after Bitdefender introduced an MDR service tailored to SMB requirements.
