MSI Debuts 990FXA GAMING AMD USB 3.1 Motherboard with NVMe Support

The AMD motherboard features two USB 3.1 Type-A ports and support for the next generation in storage control, NVM Express.

MSI has introduced the 990FXA GAMING AMD USB 3.1 motherboard, the “world’s first” AMD motherboard with NVMe support. The new motherboard includes two front USB 3.1 Type-A ports, which are fully backwards compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices. USB 3.1 allows for speeds up to 10 Gbps, up to two times faster than USB 3.0.

Additional features of the 990FXA GAMING motherboard:

  • Supports AMD FX, Phenom II, Athlon II, and Sempron processors for AM3+ socket
  • Supports DDR3-2133(OC) Memory
  • Killer LAN for high performance networking
  • Audio Boost 2, powered by Creative Sound Blaster Cinema 2, combines EMI-shielded hardware with customizable audio options like Multi-Channel Speaker Calibration and headphone profiles to enhance the audio experience
  • Optimized for multi-GPU use with enough space between the PCI-Express slots for ideal airflow for the graphics cards
  • Military Class 4 components, including Hi-C CAPs, Solid CAPs, Dark CAPs, together with SFC and Dark Chokes, ensure the PC runs stable under extreme conditions
  • Support for the next generation in storage control, NVM Express. The motherboard supports NVMe devices as primary storage under Windows 7 64bit and Windows 8.1 64bit and fully support NVMe booting
