Lenovo Showcases New Mobile Workstations at SOLIDWORKS World 2017

The new lineup of laptops includes the Lenovo ThinkPad P51s, ThinkPad P51, and VR-ready ThinkPad P71.

At SOLIDWORKS World 2017 in Los Angeles, Calif. this week, Lenovo unveiled the Lenovo ThinkPad P51s, ThinkPad P51, and VR-ready ThinkPad P71, three new mobile workstations designed to meet customer demands for a powerful but portable machine.

Developed with engineers and professional designers in mind, the ThinkPad P51s features Intel’s 7th generation (Kaby Lake) Core i7 processors, the latest NVIDIA Quadro graphics, and a 15-inch 4K UH IPS display with optional IR camera. Boasting a lightweight, Ultrabook build, the P51s is the lightest and thinnest mobile work station ever created by ThinkPad – weighing in at 4.3 pounds and only 0.79 inches thick.

The company also introduced the ThinkPad P51, which features a 4K IPS display with 100 percent color gamut and X-Rite Pantone color calibrator, and the first ever VR-ready ThinkPad P71. The laptops are MIL-SPEC tested for durability, include the latest Intel Xeon processors, as well as new 2400MHz DDR4 memory – the fastest memory available in a mobile workstation. Additionally, the 17-inch Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is certified as VR-ready by Oculus, HTC, and NVIDIA.

“Content creators working with demanding VR workflows require the most robust and reliable performance possible,” says Bob Pette, vice president, Professional Visualization, NVIDIA. “Lenovo’s VR-ready ThinkPad P71 with Quadro Pascal-based GPUs for mobile workstations provides the performance, features, and memory required for creating the most compelling VR experiences anywhere.”

The Lenovo ThinkPad P51s will be available in March, starting at $1,049, while the ThinkPad P51 and P71 will be available in April, starting at $1,399 and $1,849, respectively. To learn more, visit https://www.thinkworkstations.com/.
