Lenovo Expands ThinkServer Line

Lenovo Expands ThinkServer Line

TS200 tower and RS210 rack models are the first Lenovo servers to come standard with Integrated Management Modules.

Lenovo has added two new servers to its ThinkServer line. The TS200 tower and the RS210 rack single-processor servers are aimed at SMBs. They feature the Intel Xeon processor 3400 series.

The new servers are equipped with new virtualization capabilities and power-saving features. The TS200 and RS210 also provide 24/7 remote access.

According to Lenovo, the TS200 and RS210 deliver “more than two times the performance of their predecessors.” With high-speed DDR3 memory and up to 32 G of RDIMM memory, Lenovo says its new ThinkServers also provide four times the memory of previous Lenovo single-processor servers.

Tom Tobul, executive director of enterprise systems, software and peripherals for Lenovo, says the new ThinkServers combine quad-core Intel Xeon technology with ease-of-use to deliver “a smart leap forward” for SMBs, helping them “become more productive and efficient.”

The Lenovo ThinkServer TS200 and RS210 will be available beginning next quarter through business partners and Lenovo sales representatives.

24/7 Remote Management

The TS200 and RS210 are the first Lenovo single-process servers to come standard with the Integrated Management Module (IMM) for “always-on” management capabilities via a Web interface.

With IMM, users can remotely access and manage their ThinkServer from anywhere, anytime. Even if the server is turned off, users are able to restart, reconfigure and remotely load software to maintain operations, employee productivity and client service.

Deployment and Maintenance

Lenovo’s EasyStartup tool on ThinkServers provides added data security with new RAID configuration support and an expanded list of supported operating systems. ThinkServer EasyManage delivers features for easy installation and management.

In addition to the standard warranty, Lenovo offers a 90-day trial of ThinkPlus Priority Support services. This package of services includes next business day warranty service, 24/7 hardware and software phone support, and priority call routing to advanced technicians.

Lenovo also offers the ThinkPlus Productivity service plan for customers that need on-site hardware installation and online training.

Lenovo calls the ThinkServer TS200 and RS210 “the most energy efficient Lenovo servers yet.” Both models are designed to the Energy Star for Servers 1.0 criteria for reduced energy consumption.

Virtualization-Ready

Unlike previous ThinkServers, the TS200 and RS210 come with support for an onboard connector for an embedded hypervisor.

Lenovo supports a wide range of virtualization solutions. These solutions include an embedded VMWare Hypervisor, VMware vSphereTM 4, and Microsoft Server 2008 with Hyper-V. In addition, the Lenovo ThinkServers also support solutions from Novell and Red Hat.
