Kensington Debuts New Computing Accessories at CES

The company adds a new keyboard, mouse, lock for Ultrabooks and tablets, and more to its line of solutions for the mobile user.

At CES in Las Vegas, Kensington unveiled several new computing accessories, adding to the company’s line of solutions for the mobile user. The new products include the KP400 Switchable Keyboard, Kensington Pro Fit Wired Windows 8 Mouse, KeyFolio Thin X3 Plus for iPad Air 2, and MiniSaver Mobile Lock.

KP400 Switchable Keyboard

The Kensington KP400 Switchable Keyboard, priced at $69.99, provides users with the ability to alternate between wired and Bluetooth connectivity and enables office computer users to work with a laptop, a tablet, or a smartphone together. The keyboard is full-sized and includes a numeric keypad and a standard Windows layout. It can be powered using either a detachable wired connection through a USB port on a laptop, or with batteries when it’s in Bluetooth mode.

Kensington Pro Fit Wired Windows 8 Mouse

The Pro Fit Wired Windows 8 Mouse, priced at $29.99, features a multi-function gesture button that lets users perform six specific actions that typically are accomplished with a finger swipe. The mouse has a high-definition 1800 DPI sensor that optically tracks hand movements for precision control. With two buttons and a scroll wheel, the mobile design of the mouse is optimized for both right-handers and left-handers and offers Plug & Play installation.

KeyFolio Thin X3 Plus Case for iPad Air 2

Priced at $119.99, the KeyFolio Thin X3 Plus for iPad Air 2 includes PowerLift technology that’s capable of fully charging an iPhone 2-3 times and will give an iPad as much as a 50 percent charge. The new KeyFolio also includes a 4500mAh battery and a PowerLift app so users can see how much power is left in the keyboard battery.

“Today’s iPad and iPhone users don’t want to risk running out of battery life. They want to know that they have the power they need to get the job done, regardless of where they are,” says Jim Murakami, global product marketing manager, Kensington. “With the new KeyFolio Thin X3 Plus, we’re taking power to the next level while also giving users the high-performance keyboard they want to be more productive. It’s the perfect mix of function, style, and efficiency.”

†Featuring an integrated Bluetooth keyboard with six rows of high-performance scissor keys, the KeyFolio Thin X3 Plus for iPad Air 2 delivers a form-fitting, hard-shell exterior with aluminum accents to surround the tablet in protection while maintaining a thin profile. The KeySense Power Channel automatically turns the keyboard on and off when it’s engaged or disengaged from the magnetic stand, helping conserve battery life. The QuickFold design allows users to hide the keyboard beneath the tablet so they can transition from typing mode to viewing mode. For device charging, plug the device’s USB cable directly into the keyboard and it starts to power up off of the internal battery.

MiniSaver Mobile Lock

The MiniSaver Mobile Lock is designed for use on ultra-thin mobile devices including Ultrabooks and tablets. Featuring a new patented Cleat locking design with a small attach point, the MiniSaver offers professional-grade strength to resist pulls and tampering in a space that is as small as a micro USB connector or audio jack.

Priced at $59.99, the MiniSaver Mobile Lock is a versatile security solution for on-the-go professionals who use ultra-thin, lightweight devices and need protection in the office, or while working on the road and in public places. Additional features include:

  • Off-body lock – the MiniSaver moves the main lock housing away from the device for improved flexibility which prevents interference with surrounding ports and jacks used for other accessories.
  • One-handed operation – A push-button action with a single hand can engage the lock inside the security slot.
  • Cut-resistant and pivoting cable –The pivot and rotate cable offers better freedom of movement. It’s also engineered from carbon steel, designed to be resistant to cutting.
