Kaseya Adds Network Monitoring and Documentation to VSA Remote Monitoring and Management Solution

The network monitoring functionality is provided by directly embedded elements of the company’s Traverse solution. The documentation capabilities come via tightly-integrated software from IT Glue.

IT management software maker Kaseya Ltd. has shipped a new release of its VSA remote monitoring and management solution with integrated network monitoring and documentation functionality.

The new documentation module, named AssetIQ, enables technicians to view backup configurations, file sharing settings, and other essential facts while working in VSA or its Live Connect remote control component. They are the first concrete manifestation of the source code-level integration pact with Vancouver, B.C.-based IT Glue that Kaseya announced in March.

The network monitoring features, which arm technicians to administer endpoints and infrastructure components like routers and switches through the same tool, are provided by Traverse, Kaseya’s flagship network management solution. Core Traverse functions are now standard, directly embedded features of VSA provided at no additional cost.

“Whatever you’re paying for VSA today gets you everything you have today plus basic network monitoring,” says Frank Tisellano, vice president of product management and design at Kaseya, which has headquarters in both Miami and New York. For what Tisellano describes as a “marginal” additional fee, users can also add more sophisticated features with a single click.

“We’re going to be really aggressive about pricing the advanced version of Traverse that you can upgrade to,” he says. “You’re going to be able to do basic SNMP monitoring, network monitoring, and really advanced monitoring, like doing quality of service and VoIP monitoring and application monitoring, all in one place.”

Kaseya intends to continue selling and supporting Traverse as a stand-alone solution going forward. Users who take advantage of Traverse functionality from within VSA, however, will be able to diagnose technical issues more quickly and accurately by correlating endpoint and network events through the same interface, the company says.

A unified endpoint and network management solution eases vendor management burdens as well, Kaseya adds.

Also included in the new VSA release is a library of endpoint and network management automation scripts called the Kaseya Automation Exchange. Most its contents will be provided on an ongoing, crowdsourced basis by Kaseya’s over 100,000 global users, enabling Kaseya customers to adapt quickly to evolving needs and challenges.

Kaseya introduced the latest version of VSA at its Kaseya Connect partner conference, which took place this week in Las Vegas. A new consolidated tool for managing Kaseya’s entire IT Complete suite of products, plus solutions from selected alliance partners like IT Glue, was also unveiled at that show.

Kaseya made headlines most recently last week, when it announced that it would be merging with Unitrends Inc., the Burlington, Mass.-based BDR vendor, to form a managed services goliath with end-to-end solutions ranging from RMM and PSA software to security and backup systems, and beyond.
