Ingram Micro ITAD Signs Agreement to Take e-Stewards Certification Global

Affirms commitment to highest standard of environmental and social responsibility

September 23, 2019 11:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time

IRVINE, Calif. & SEATTLE–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Ingram Micro, a leading IT asset disposition services provider, and the Basel Action Network (BAN), the environmental advocacy organization responsible for the e-Stewards certification standard, jointly announced today that Ingram Micro has committed to certifying all its IT asset processing facilities worldwide to the e-StewardsÆ standard within three years. Once these certifications are complete, Ingram Micro ITAD will become the first e-Stewards-certified provider operational across five continents, helping lead the industry towards greater global responsibility.

Ingram Micro is committed to the global e-Stewards certification process as part of its ongoing dedication to providing the most responsible level of ITAD services to its clients worldwide. Over the next three years, the company plans to expand its e-Stewards certification beyond its three processing facilities in the U.S., adding 14 additional processing facilities in Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, the Netherlands, Peru, Singapore, Spain, and the UK, as well as three planned facilities in Australia, Mexico, and New Zealand.

As part of this global program, e-Stewards has created a new designation – e-Stewards Committed – to brand company facilities that are on a strict path towards e-Stewards Certification. This designation is expected to help global organizations better identify certified partners that are dedicated to responsible recycling. It will also encourage e-Stewards Certified recyclers to expand their certification to other countries.

“Ingram Micro ITAD is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility everywhere we operate,” said Todd Zegers, vice president, ITAD, Commerce & Lifecycle Services, Ingram Micro. “Over the years, e-Stewards has emerged as the gold standard for the industry, challenging ITAD providers to comply with the most rigorous criteria for international trade, performance verification, and data security. This new agreement reflects our commitment to maintaining e-Stewards conformity everywhere we conduct ITAD operations.”

“We’re gratified that Ingram Micro has done the calculus and has chosen e-Stewards to certify its processing facilities. We’ve worked hard to become the premier standard for ethics and excellence,” said Jim Puckett, founder of the Basel Action Network and the e-Stewards program, “and we’re proud to partner with an industry leader that seeks not merely to comply, but to lead.”
