HP Designs ElitePad 900 Tablet for Business Use

The compact PC includes Smart Jackets for extra connectivity options and a longer runtime.

Consumers aren’t the only ones enjoying the multitude of tablet options out there. Business users are loving those portables as well. After all, it’s really easy to roam from meeting to meeting with that compact computer. That said, a lot of tablets aren’t built for business use. That’s probably what prompted the release of the HP ElitePad 900.

The ElitePad 900 packs all of those enterprise-grade features into a tablet form factor. The device is super-thin and lightweight, but has the power of Windows 8, which means that it supports touch-, pen-, and/or voice-based input.

Other features include a 10.1-inch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, the latest Intel Atom processor, a 1080p front-facing video camera, and an 8-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash. It even comes packing the HP PageLift app, the CyberLink Media suite, Evernote, and SRS Audio.

It also has support for something called HP ElitePad Smart Jackets, so you can add on things like a keyboard, connectivity ports, and even battery life. Currently, HP offers the option of the ElitePad Productivity Jacket, the ElitePad Expansion Jacket, the ElitePad Rugged Case, the ElitePad Docking Station, and the Executive Tablet Pen.

One thing that business users don’t need is for the ElitePad 900 to be as delicate as your typical tablet. HP says that this one has military-grade durability for drops, vibration, dust, temperature extremes, and high altitude.

“Businesses used to face a tough purchase decision: How to find a product that will delight employees and help them be more productive, while also making sure IT can secure and manage it,” said Todd Bradley, executive vice president of HP’s Printing and Personal Systems division. “The HP ElitePad meets all those tests. It combines the great style and user experience consumers demand with the features IT requires.”

Weighing in at a mere 1.5 pounds, the HP ElitePad comes with HP Global Series Support, a one-year standard warranty, and the option for a three-year warranty via HP Care Pack Services. The HP ElitePad 900 is available now, with a starting price of $699.
