High Wire Networks Launches Overwatch Managed Firewall Enabling MSP Partners to Boost MRR

As-a-Service Solution Simplifies Network Security for Hybrid Work, Including Headquarters, Branch, Home and Mobile Offices

Spectrum Global Solutions Inc. (the “Company” or “Spectrum”), announced today that High Wire Networks Inc. (“High Wire”) and its cybersecurity business unit, Overwatch Managed Security, today introduced Overwatch Managed Firewall, powered by Mako Networks.

Overwatch Managed Firewall is a cost-effective security-as-a-service solution that enables High Wire’s managed service provider (MSP) partners to earn lucrative monthly recurring revenue (MRR) by delivering intelligent end-to-end protection for the new hybrid workplace.

“Securing an organization’s headquarters and branch offices is challenging, but safeguarding dozens, hundreds or even thousands of endpoints used by employees working remotely is practically impossible – until now,” said High Wire CEO Mark Porter. “Overwatch Managed Firewall helps our MSP partners meet their clients’ challenges in securing hybrid work environments with an affordable OpEx-based service with no upfront capex costs.”

Overwatch Managed Firewall is fully integrated into the Overwatch 24/7 AI-driven Extended Detection and Response (XDR) platform, which collects data from all sources and drills down on real threats. The XDR platform is managed around the clock by expert security analysts in the Overwatch 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC).

“We’re enabling our MSP partners to deliver a full firewall protection with enterprise-class edge devices that are completely managed by our security experts,” said Porter. “Plus, our plug-and-play appliances mean a zero-touch installation. It couldn’t be easier for our partners and their customers.”

Overwatch Managed Firewall leverages Mako Networks’ universal edge appliances, which merge a next-generation firewall and router with a secure virtual private network (VPN), software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) and cellular wireless backup in a single cloud-managed network appliance. Mako appliances are fully PCI-compliant and are delivered preconfigured to office and remote sites, allowing users to simply connect them to power and Internet.

Mako Networks’ cloud-based Central Management System (CMS) applies policies to the device and collects real-time network information, including cellular and broadband data use, intrusion attempts, Internet traffic records, estate-wide network status and more.

“Since the pandemic began, many businesses have, unfortunately, learned that typical home wireless networks are vulnerable to breaches and malware,” said Jason Kubasak, CEO of Mako Networks. “In contrast, Overwatch Managed Firewall with Mako edge appliances enables remote workers to access corporate networks via centrally managed VPN tunnels and hardened firewalls, which means they can be governed by the same security policies as employees in the office.”

Because enterprise network policy can be controlled in the cloud by the CMS, access rules can be applied across any number of edge devices using templates. Templates can be applied either globally or by groups based on departments, divisions, locations, geographies, or other criteria that are relevant to the customer’s use case.

“In the case of a suspected breach, we can make a single change to a template blocking access for all remote users in real-time,” said Porter. “Then our SOC analysts can quickly address issues with a touch of a button, improving response times and containing potential damage.”

Overwatch Managed Firewall, offered through MSPs, is part of High Wire Network’s Overwatch Managed Security Platform-as-a-Service, which protects an organization’s networks, data, endpoints and users.

As previously announced, High Wire has agreed to go public through a merger with Spectrum Global Solutions Inc. (OTCQB:SGSI). The merger’s closing is subject to certain closing conditions that are expected to be met within the next few weeks.
