Egnyte Introduces Governance Solution and Service for Mid-Market Businesses

The dashboard and associated health check service are designed to make inventorying security dangers, prioritizing them, devising solutions, and implementing safeguards simpler for companies that can’t afford the solutions that larger organizations use.

Content management vendor Egnyte has introduced a new governance tool and associated service designed to help businesses measure, track, and mitigate risks to their cloud-based data.

Available now, the new offerings seek to make inventorying security dangers, prioritizing them, devising solutions, and implementing safeguards simpler for mid-market companies that can’t afford the more expensive solutions used at larger organizations.

“While there are a number of great security and compliance platforms on the market, most were built for Fortune 500s and big banks. The problem is, today, as more companies adopt hybrid and remote work, and more data becomes subject to regulation, almost every company in the world has a need for robust data security and governance,” said Rajesh Ram, Egnyte’s co-founder and chief experience officer, in prepared remarks. “Egnyte has long been committed to making it easy for mid-sized enterprises to prevent data breaches and implement compliance-driven data protection, without having to add additional staff to manage these programs. Today’s announcements are about making the platform even simpler and more actionable than ever.”

The new solution is built around a Governance Risk Dashboard that assembles a list of risks and displays an aggregate risk score for the company as a whole. Users can view recommended fixes for specific risks and track progress toward implementing those measures.

According to Egnyte, channel pros and IT professionals can also use the dashboard to help non-technical business leaders appreciate the volume of sensitive content they’re responsible for, where that content resides, and what actions are needed to protect it. In addition, the system lets businesses define and automatically apply safeguards limiting access to sensitive files based on content matching rules, risk score, and location.

The new professional service announced today, called Strategic Health Checks, helps organizations assess their current governance posture and develop a plan for improving data control, security, and productivity.

The new products are the most recent addition to Egnyte’s existing content governance platform, which includes access control, lifecycle management, collaboration, and workflow tools, along with compliance and anti-ransomware functionality. The company launched that solution last year.

Earlier this month, Egnyte rolled out new content management and compliance capabilities for SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and other components of the Microsoft 365 productivity suite, which supplemented previous support for Microsoft Teams introduced in 2020.

The sudden move to remote work last year in response to the coronavirus pandemic has led to increased need in businesses of all sizes for secure, cloud-based content repositories. The global market for online content management solutions will climb at a CAGR of 30.7% through 2027 to $122 billion, according to Research and Markets.
