ConnectWise Names New Business Unit Leaders and CISO

Under a revamped organizational structure, four general managers responsible for key portions of ConnectWise’s portfolio report in to CEO Jason Magee (pictured). Patrick Beggs, meanwhile, steps in to lead security operations for the company.

ConnectWise has adopted a new organizational structure for its product groups, and hired a new chief information security officer.

In the past, the managed services software and services leader handled engineering and product management within separate teams. Under its new reporting structure, both functions now reside in four “Innovation Business Units,” each of which is led by a general manager who reports directly to CEO Jason Magee.

“We recognize that rapid, meaningful product innovation requires partner proximity and centricity, impeccable product management and engineering rigor, and leadership that connects all aspects of our operating model to ensure a meaningful partner experience,” said Magee in a blog message to partners. “This is why today I’m pleased to announce that ConnectWise is re-organizing and appointing new leadership to drive the next generation of innovation for the TSP space.”

Jeff Bishop, formerly chief product officer at ConnectWise, is now general manager in charge of Asio, the next-generation RMM platform the company unveiled last November.

Raffael Marty, who became ConnectWise’s senior vice president of product management for cybersecurity last June, is now general manager of the cybersecurity business unit. Ameer Karim, who joins ConnectWise from zero-trust security vendor Absolute Software as the GM in charge of unified monitoring and management, and Jake Varghese, who is now general manager of business management following stints at ServiceNow, Microsoft, Tanium, and startup Optio3, round out the revamped leadership team.

Each general manager, ConnectWise says, will be responsible for the “engineering effectiveness” of their assigned product lines, as well as roadmap development, on-time delivery against those plans, and partner satisfaction across sales, product support, services, and other critical functions.

Patrick Beggs, the new CISO, has over 20 years of experience leading cyber operations at organizations ranging from Cognizant, Amazon Web Services, and Bank of America to the Department of Homeland Security.

“Over the last three years, we’ve made incredible strides in hardening our environments and formalizing a compliant, best-practice oriented cybersecurity program,” said Magee in prepared remarks. “But with the rapidly changing threat landscape, we intend to innovate deeper and faster in this area as well, which is why I’m pleased to introduce someone of Patrick’s caliber to our company and our partner community.”

Beggs will report to CTO Steve Cochran. Former CISO Tom Greco and his team now report to Beggs.

Security, compliance, and data integrity have become major concerns for makers of RMM software in the wake of supply chain attacks against products from SolarWinds, Kaseya, and others. Magee called security “our number one priority in the company” in a conversation with ChannelPro at last year’s IT Nation Connect event.
