Carbonite Inc. has introduced refreshed versions of its Carbonite Server BDR solution that enable businesses and MSPs to manage protected data on virtual machines through a consolidated interface.
Called Carbonite Data Protection Console, the new interface lets users of both Carbonite Server VM Edition and Carbonite Server VM Edition for Service Providers select, manage, and recover all of their protected virtual machine data in one place.
“The delivery of Carbonite Server VM Edition simultaneously with the launch of our flagship Carbonite Data Protection Console is the culmination of one of our largest cross-functional efforts, led by our exceptional engineering organization,” said Mohamad Ali, Boston-based Carbonite’s CEO, in a press statement. “Our customers and partners are eager to have an integrated and easy to use data protection solution for both physical and virtual servers.”
Equipped with optional integrated hardware, both Carbonite Server VM Edition and Carbonite Server VM Edition for Service Providers let users backup virtual machines locally and in the cloud. The systems are compatible with VMware vSphere and Microsoft Azure, as well as all of the operating systems and applications supported by those platforms. Users can perform granular restores of individual files and folders as well as data in local implementations of Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Active Directory.†Carbonite also announced today that Rob Beeler has been promoted to senior vice president of products and engineering.
Formerly the company’s vice president of engineering and responsible for the design and development of server protection solutions, Beeler was CTO of Double-Take Software when Carbonite acquired that company in January of last year.
Carbonite, which bought cloud backup vendor Mozy Inc. from Dell Technologies earlier this year, has re-tooled its partner program in the last year in an effort to increase simplicity and help top resellers earn richer benefits.
