Canon’s New imageFORMULA DR-M260 Office Document Scanner Offers Users Unprecedented Five-Year Warranty

Device is designed to offer fast, reliable document scanning to a variety of office settings

When scanning professional documents in the workplace, it is necessary that the original information be captured reliably and accurately, with the high-speed necessary to maintain a steady workflow. To meet these vital needs, Canon†U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, has announced the release of the imageFORMULA DR-M260 office document scanner. Containing high-quality image processing, reliable document handling and robust software in a user-friendly design, the imageFORMULA DR-M260 offers end-to-end options to capture business information and help improve productivity in the work place. To demonstrate Canon reliability, maximize uptime, and help bring peace-of-mind to users, the imageFORMULA DR-M260 scanner is backed by an industry-leading five-year advanced-exchange warranty.

The DR-M260 scanner is a fit for a variety of environments, with its ability to provide efficient document management and cut down on the backlog of paperwork in the office. Among the markets that the DR-M260 scanner lends itself well to are:

Financial Sector:†Users can assist in reducing data entry errors by maintaining client documentation, such as identification cards or receipts.

Professional Services:†The ability to provide effective back file conversion and archiving, as well as effective document and content management can help those in the professional services industry improve response time to customers and encourage collaboration among team members.

Government:†This environmentally-conscious device can help municipalities and public institutions adhere to strict records retention guidelines and improve integration and distribution of information between agencies in a highly secure manner.

Healthcare:†When applied in healthcare environments the DR-M260 can assist in streamlining workflows and record keeping, reduce manual processes and process a variety of form types to maintain the quality of information from legacy documents.

Powerful Performance
Capable of quickly capturing and converting †paper-based documents into useable digital information, the DR-M260 scanner can scan up to 60 pages per minute1—both sides in a single pass—with the capacity to hold up to 80 sheets in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). In addition, the DR-M260 scanner is equipped with an onboard image processing CPU, to provide fast, high-quality scanning without depending on PC performance.† Also, the DR-M260 scanner includes a USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface, to help ensure optimal data transfer rates from the PC to the connected scanner.

User-Friendly Design
The DR-M260 scanner features a convenient Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panel to create up to 99 customizable, pre-programmed scan tasks, useful for frequently used scanning modes and output destinations. Scanning status and count can also be monitored on the LCD panel. For easy maintenance, notifications for errors and roller replacement will appear on the LCD to help administrators address problems before they occur.

High-Quality Image Processing
To capture information accurately, the DR-M260 scanner incorporates Canon’s imaging expertise to improve text legibility through the Character Emphasis feature, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to create searchable and editable information. To help save time and storage space, page sizes and blank pages can automatically be detected.

Robust Software
With users requiring increased flexibility in their business technology, the DR-M260 scanner is bundled with a suite of convenient software applications to help widen the scope of the device’s capabilities. Canon CapturePerfect and Kofax Virtual ReScan (VRS) Professional software help to increase the overall quality of documents scanned, while Canon CaptureOntouch V4 provides an array of features and functions to help make document organization easy for business users. The DR-M260 scanner also includes ISIS and TWAIN drivers, which ease integration with third-party capture and content management systems.

Reliable Item Handling
Canon’s DR-M260 office document scanner can reliably handle an assortment of document types, including thick, thin, or over-sized documents as well as plastic embossed cards. Optional carrier sheets allow passports with IC chips and other fragile documents to be scanned through the ADF without damaging the originals. Paper feeding and eject sensors are incorporated to minimize document mishaps that can cause jams and damage. The scanner also incorporates left and right feeding rollers that revolve independently to help prevent skewed feeding when different size documents are scanned in a single batch.

Environment in Mind
The DR-M260 scanner meets ENERGY STAR guidelines for energy efficiency and complies with both the EU RoHS and WEEE directives for the reduction of hazardous substances and waste products.2†The DR-M260 scanner is also EPEAT Gold certified.

Availability
The Canon imageFORMULA DR-M260 office document scanner is now available through Canon-authorized dealers and resellers.
