REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Box, Inc. (NYSE:BOX), a leader in cloud content management, today announced a new subscription-based pricing model for Box Platform. Available today, the new Box Platform pricing model offers both flexibility and predictability to meet the needs of businesses and organizations of all sizes.

“We’ve combined the best qualities from various pricing models to reduce the friction for businesses of any size to start building on Box Platform,” said Jeetu Patel, CSO and SVP of Box Platform. “On the one hand, emerging businesses and start-ups need flexible pricing that makes it easy to scale as their company grows. On the other hand, enterprise buyers prefer predictability to simplify planning. Box Platform now offers the best of both worlds, changing the game in cloud content management and making it easier than ever for developers to create engaging and immersive new experiences around content in their applications.”

Under the new pricing model, Box Platform is licensed based on active usage of an application each month. Businesses license bundles of resources, which include monthly active users (MAUs), monthly API calls, monthly bandwidth, and total storage, and only license the number of bundles required to support their application’s usage each month. This new model reduces friction for businesses to get started and provides flexibility for businesses to license additional resources as adoption grows, while still offering predictable annualized contracts for enterprise buyers.

The new Box Platform pricing model provides businesses with:

  • Scalability, as businesses will only license the amount of resources their application will utilize each month and can license additional resources as adoption grows.
  • Customizability with the ability to license resources a la carte to fit an application’s needs, even licensing outside of the bundles structure for back-office use cases that do not require user licenses.
  • Predictability with annualized contracts that normalize usage over the entire contract term to account for periods of growth and seasonality. If a business exceeds their resource entitlements, they will simply true-up at their current usage in the next contract term.

Starting today, Box Platform is available starting at $500 per bundle per month. Box will continue to offer a free Developer plan which is ideal for experimentation and non-production use. For more information, please visit the Box Platform pricing page.
