Avnet Aims to Align Service Offerings with New Business Model

The distributor’s Avnet Services initiative provides partners with “a unified, globally-aligned services business with common processes and tools.”

IT distributor Avnet Technology Solutions has unveiled Avnet Services, a new business model designed to improve operational efficiencies for Avnet’s services offerings around the world. It will combine existing services organizations within Avnet into one dedicated team focused on software, lifecycle, and education services complementing existing solutions sales and suppliers’ services offerings.

Avnet’s channel partners and suppliers will benefit from “expanded capabilities, extended reach and scale, faster time to market, variable cost models, and increased revenue and margins from services offerings,” states the distributor in press release submitted to ChannelPro-SMB. “The Avnet Services team will continue to work with channel partners, including VARs, software vendors, and OEMs, to sell and deliver these services.”

“Avnet Services is designed to help partners successfully capitalize on IT services opportunities by leveraging our ecosystem and IT services portfolio in partnership with technology providers,” says Avnet Technology Solutions president Phil Gallagher. “Our goal is to build a unified, globally-aligned services business with common processes and tools that will enable us to deliver multiple lines of services from multiple business units for channel partners efficiently and effectively.”

Services Offerings

Avnet Services will target high-growth opportunities and operate in parallel with Avnet Technology Solutions’ core product business model. Initially, services offerings will be developed and delivered in three main areas:

  • Software Services—Infrastructure and application management as well as business, commerce, and analytics, and cloud enablement.
  • Lifecycle Services—Integration, installation and implementation, call center, field/depot repair, spare parts logistics, and such end-of-life options as responsible recycling.
  • Education Services—Vendor-accredited training, multilingual/mixed modality education, and a scalable training infrastructure.†
