APC Makes Its Pitch to a Cisco Crowd

At the Cisco Live conference in Las Vegas this week, APC by Schneider Electric introduces several new products specifically for Cisco solutions.

APC by Schneider used the Cisco Live conference forum this week to introduce a number of new data center solutions. Among the announced products this week are the NetShelter SX Side Airflow Solution Duct Kit for Cisco Nexus 7018 data center networking switch, Design and Configuration Guides, and the integration of APC solutions within the Netformx DesignXpert platform.

According to Marc Sherman, Schneider Electric’s vice president of marketing and sales enablement, the solution announcements from APC by Schneider were designed to “provide support for the implementation of Cisco solutions within the data center environment.”

“Our partners within the IT reseller community are tasked with providing complete solutions to their customers that can be designed and implemented very quickly,” Sherman says. “Ultimately, IT resellers will be able to deliver to their customers a more complete, packaged solution with virtually no additional time or effort needed.”

Here’s a basic rundown of the products announced this week at Cisco Live:

  • APC NetShelter SX Side Airflow Solution Kit This product is designed to support the Cisco Nexus 7018 Data Center Networking Switch. The model is part of Cisco’s networking switches for medium and large data storage centers. APC’s airflow solution kit provides hot and cold aisle isolation required by the switch and maintains the NetShelter SX design when attached to an enclosure.
  • Design and Configuration Guides APC has published three guides to assist Cisco channel partners in configuring power requirements, selecting appropriate racks, addressing airflow issues, and suggesting cable management solutions for Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) server platform, Cisco Catalyst Series Switches and Multilayer Director Switches, and the Cisco Nexus platform 7000 series switches. Each of the Design and Configuration Guide provides channel partners and end users recommendations as to which APC power and rack solutions are appropriate to support the given Cisco product.
  • Integrating of APC Solutions into Netformx’s DesignXpert — Designs created with DesignXpert, which include Cisco solutions up to 20Kw, now benefit from an automatically generated list of required APC products and services. This functionality is aimed at decreasing deployment times, enabling VARs to cut down on the hours needed to plan out power and cooling support for their network closet, pod, or small-to-medium-sized data center application design.
