ConnectWise IT Nation: Wish You Were Here

The ConnectWise IT Nation 2011 event exceeds expectations for vendor and MSP partners alike.

If you're a ConnectWise partner who could not make it to this year's IT Nation event at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek resort, you are seemingly among the few. An estimated 1,200 of ConnectWise's MSP and VAR partners are in attendance, along with about 600 people from more than 60 vendors. Big event.

As most partner events do, this one kicked off with a welcome reception Wednesday night in the Solutions Pavilion where everyone was getting the lay of the land and chatting casually with vendors in preparation for the two full days of meetings and breakout sessions ahead.

Daniel Burrus was the keynote speaker to start the main event on Thursday. Burrus is a leading technology forecaster and author of Flash Foresight, a New York Times and Wall Street Journal best seller in which he explains how social and business trends, if you recognize them, can open up numerous opportunities in business. If you missed the keynote, check out the column Burrus wrote for ChannelPro last month.

The rest of the day was, of course, a blur. Partners got serious at the Solutions Pavilion, gathering information from vendors and plying them with questions. The breakout sessions were more numerous than last year, according to ConnectWise, and the partners seemed to agree, bemoaning that they couldn't be in two sessions at once. There were some glitches, however, with power lost and wi-fi overloaded, but that was minor stuff.

Finally, parties! Three of them! Exhaustion!

Today we do it all again. I'll keep you posted on that, unless, of course, I'm too tired...
