WHERE YOUR RMM STOPS, Roar begins. The automated system discovery and documentation platform from software developer Liongard aims to solve the biggest problem the company’s founders, Joe Alapat and Vincent Tran, faced when they were MSPs: providing visibility and up-to-date configuration information across the entire modern IT stack.
It’s a huge challenge, and one that CEO Alapat jokes caused him to lose most of his hair back when he was haranguing staff constantly about maintaining records manually.
“Once you realize that you’re having to loop back every month, every two days, every two weeks, to update that documentation, that’s when you realize there’s got to be a better way,” adds COO Tran.
Roar uses “inspectors” to automatically capture system configuration data across cloud services, network devices, on-premises systems, and apps/services, and then delivers it in a multitenant dashboard that shows MSPs what changes were made and when. Inspectors are available for Azure, Office 365, Active Directory, SQL Server, AWS, and Cisco Meraki, among others, with more planned. “Our overall intent is to go as wide as possible,” says Tran.
Roar currently integrates with the ConnectWise Manage PSA and IT Glue document management platforms. Support for Datto’s Autotask PSA arrives early this year, and discussions with additional RMM and PSA providers are underway.
Liongard also added a Metrics feature to Roar late last year that lets users track and report on statistics the system collects.
Roar costs approximately $20 per customer per month with a minimum of 20 customers. Its creators have a mission to boost MSP profitability. “Our goal is that an MSP should be able to manage 10 times the number of customers that they have today with the same team that they have today,” Alapat says. “We know that that’s feasible if the right level of automation is applied.”
