Try as we might, ChannelPro rarely manages to coax experienced industry leaders into going public with upcoming announcements in advance. That doesn’t stop us from trying, though, and at Tech Data’s Channel Link event last week we managed to get a few vague but still intriguing hints out of company executives about what the distribution giant has up its sleeves for the second half of the year.
Since April, ConnectWise partners have been able to purchase Microsoft Office 365 licenses through Tech Data directly from within ConnectWise’s CloudConsole SaaS management and billing tool. According to Stacy Nethercoat, vice president of Tech Data Cloud for the Americas, the initial reception to that offering has been enthusiastic.
“We’re seeing fantastic uptake,” she says.
As ChannelPro reported two months ago, however, the CloudConsole integration is just the first phase of a larger effort to link Tech Data’s backend infrastructure with ConnectWise products, including its PSA and Quosal quote management solutions. At Channel Link last week, Tech Data confirmed that work continues on those initiatives.
“There’s a second and a third phase that we look forward to announcing very soon,” said Mike Ward, director of product marketing for Tech Data Cloud. “We’re super excited about that.”
