The choices for consumers on this “Sweet Spot” of the market where over 3x the number of cards are sold versus the highest end cards above that price point are important. NVIDIA has chosen to fight with their GeForce GTX 470 and 460 cards.
Micro Star International is a Taiwanese manufacturer of motherboards and video cards. They release new video cards based upon NVIDIA and AMD video chips over the last few years. The GeForce GTX 470 card was released along with the NVIDIA GTX 480 card in March. With the announcement of the GTX 580 and AMD HD 6870, NVIDIA decided to compete using the GTX 470 card.
