With the introduction of the 6-core Core i7-980X and Core i7-970 6 core CPUs and new features like USB 3.0 and SATA 6 Gb/second the various motherboard manufacturers have come back to the X58 chipset as their high-end solution for the computing market place. It’s interesting, as with the release of the P55/H55/Q57 series of Intel motherboards and Core i7 870 CPUs that run nearly as fast as the 920 the X58 chipset still has some takers.
ASUS has long been a favorite of the team here at Motherboards.org. The majority of game machines used for personal activities use ASUS motherboards, and or video cards. They have several lines of motherboards including the Republic of Gamers boards designed for gamers, their Pro series and Deluxe series and their workstation class boards. Today I’m reviewing their Republic of Gamers’ Rampage III Formula board, which is the latest motherboard on the X58 chipset, in conjunction with the Rampage III Gene board.
