TP-Link Unveils a Pair of Powerline Networking Products

The AV500 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit and AV200 Wireless N Powerline Extender Starter Kit are selling now.

Believe it or not, everyone doesn’t have an Ethernet jack or WiFi available in every single nook and cranny of his or her workspace. However, those users can definitely enjoy networking as well, via powerline technology.

Powerline networking can turn any outlet into a web connection. However, you’re going to have to hook up powerline-enhanced networking products to the outlet to make that connection possible. TP-Link just introduced a pair of interesting options.

For those just starting out with powerline networking, the company has its AV500 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit. Also known as the TL-PA4010KIT, this little dongle promises data transfer rates of up to 500Mbps. Other features include a power-saving mode, built-in AES encryption, and a Quality of Service (QoS) function to prioritize the bandwidth requirements of data traffic.

Just plug the device into an existing outlet and you’re pretty much ready to roll — or surf. It’s also teeny and designed to blend into any outlet, so you won’t have to worry about some big eyesore in your space.

The HomePlug AV-compliant AV500 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit is available now with an MSRP of $69.99.

If you’re looking to build upon your current wireless setup, there’s also the 300Mbps AV200 Wireless N Powerline Extender Starter Kit. Also known as the TL-WPA281KIT, this option is very similar to the AV500. However, it does a 200Mbps powerline link rate and a 300Mbps wireless N rate for video streaming, online gaming, and even web-based phone calls.

Like the above model, the AV200 has the HomePlug AV seal of approval, plug-and-play operation, and a discreet design. It also has the built-in QoS and AES encryption, as well as a WPS one-button security setup.

Look for the 300Mbps AV200 Wireless N Powerline Extender Starter Kit selling now as well, with an MSRP of $79.99.
