Three New PCs Debut from Lenovo

Two thin, lightweight laptops and an all-in-one desktop model enhance the company’s offerings.

Lenovo, based in Research Triangle Park, N.C., announced three new PCs for consumers, small-office/home-office users, and SMBs.

The Lenovo IdeaPad U350 laptop
The new IdeaPad U350 laptop, encased in a silver shell, starts at 3.5 pounds and measures only one-inch thick (with a four-cell battery). A 16:9 aspect ratio high-definition 13.3 inch LED panel and an HDMI connector enable users to watch movies or other multimedia in high definition. The laptop also features surround sound and an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness according to the lighting environment to reduce eyestrain and preserve battery life. And, with VeriFace facial recognition technology, a user can use his or her face as a password for easy log in. The camera can also be used for video messaging or making Skype calls using the laptop’s WiFi connectivity.

The U350’s entertainment features are powered by choices of Intel Core2Solo and Pentium ultra-low-voltage processors, up to 8 GB high-speed DDR3 memory, and up to 500 GB of hard drive storage. These technologies help users to edit video to post on social networking sites and watch streaming video. For business users, Lenovo borrowed the Active Protection System component of ThinkPad laptops that helps protect data by temporarily stopping the hard drive if the laptop should fall. The laptop also comes with a OneKey Rescue System to help recover data if it becomes corrupted.

The IdeaPad U350 laptop will be available starting in July, with an MSRP starting at about $649.

The Lenovo G550 laptop
The G550 15.6-inch laptop offers business professionals a 16:9 aspect ratio panel, DVD burner/player, WiFi connectivity, Ethernet, and optional Bluetooth. It also comes with VeriFace technology, a built-in camera, numeric keypad for ease in logging data, high-speed memory, Intel Centrino2 processor technology, and choices of NVIDIA graphics. The redesigned, thinner and lighter G Series laptops feature choices of either a hairline-like silver finish or a smooth, glossy slate-colored finish.

The Lenovo G550 laptop will be available in June and has an MSRP of approximately $599.

The Lenovo IdeaCentre C300 all-in-one desktop
The IdeaCentre C300 all-in-one desktop, based on the Intel Atom platform, completes the new additions to the Lenovo “Idea” PC line. Its foldaway stand can be positioned between 12 and 40 degrees to help fit the PC into tight spaces, leaving room for viewing the 20-inch 16:9 aspect ration widescreen or watching moview from the machine’s built-in DVD burner/player. A built-in camera is also included.

The C300 comes with WiFi and Ethernet connectivity, six USB ports, a firewire port, and a 6-in-1 multicard reader. This model also includes the Lenovo Rescue System.

The IdeaCentre C300, with an MSRP of roughly $449, will be available starting in July.
