Schneider Electric Delivers Power Certainty, Convenience with new APC SurgeArrest and Universal Laptop Charger Lines

The new solutions offer guaranteed power protection and power quality reliability at home, in the small office, or while traveling.

Schneider Electric, a manufacturer of uninterruptible power supplies, has expanded its portfolio of power quality and protection products with the introduction of a new line of universal APC by Schneider Electric Laptop Chargers and APC by Schneider Electric SurgeArrest Essential surge protectors. Unveiled at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the new solutions provide safe, convenient, and reliable power and protection against damaging surges and spikes, ensuring connectivity anytime, anywhere.

“In our increasingly connected world, tech-savvy consumers cannot and will not tolerate dead batteries or outages caused by power fluctuations that disrupt connectivity and potentially cost money,” says Jamie Bourassa, vice president, Offer Management and Channel Marketing, Schneider Electric. “As our reliance on electronic grows, so does our need for convenient, high-quality power; the new line of universal APC Laptop Chargers and SurgeArrest Essential offer vital protection from the unreliable and unpredictable nature of power.”

APC Laptop Chargers

The universal APC Laptop Chargers are designed to simplify work and life on the go by providing additional, alternative, or replacement computer charging. Available in seven models and two power levels—36 Watts and 65 Watts—APC Laptop Chargers are compatible with Dell, Acer, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, and Chromebook portable PCs.

Featuring a compact and slim design for easy portability, APC Laptop Chargers, including the NP19V36W and NP19V65W, offer four layers of power protection to ensure safety and efficiency:

  • Over temperature protection: Protects laptop and charger from overheating by discontinuing the charge when the battery temperature surpasses recommended levels.
  • Over charging protection: Extends battery life by checking voltage and current, and automatically shutting down when laptop is fully charged.
  • Over voltage protection: Prevents voltage spikes from reaching electronics by regulating the power when a transient load occurs.
  • Short circuit protection: Prevents battery from potential deformation by shutting down in the event of a shorted circuit.

APC SurgeArrest Essential

Surges, lightning, and power grid fluctuations can have a devastating impact on electronics, cause premature failure of computers, peripherals and other sensitive equipment, and pose potential safety hazards. APC SurgeArrest Essential series, including the new P6WU2 as well as the PE63, PE66, PE66W, PE6U2, PE6T, PE76, and PE76W launched in the fall of 2016, safeguards against damage to electronics from power disturbances. Key features of the new P6WU2 include:

  • Catastrophic event protection: Safeguards against lightning, power surges and spikes, while thermal fusing helps ensure safe operation under all conditions.
  • Charge and protect: Six outlets and two 2.4 amp USB charging ports powers up to eight devices at once.
  • Building wiring fault indicator: Warns of potentially dangerous wiring problems in the wall circuitry.

The universal APC Laptop Charger (starting at $29.99 MSRP) will be available later this month. SurgeArrest Essential P6WU2 ($19.99 MSRP) is available now. For more information, visit http://www.apc.com/us/en/.
