Panasonic Introduces the Toughbook CF-33 12 inch 2-in-1 Fully Rugged Laptop

Providing a decade of backward compatibility, 2-in-1 laptop offers 3:2 aspect ratio for enhanced efficiency in public sector, federal and enterprise applications

Panasonic today announced the world’s first 3:2 aspect ratio, fully rugged 2-in-1 detachable laptop*1 as its latest addition to the Toughbook family of products. The device is Panasonic’s 7th generation rugged Toughbook laptop and is the culmination of 20 years of innovation in rugged PC design and manufacturing.

This larger 12″ display design with 3:2 aspect ratio brings unrivalled flexibility and performance for mobile business computing with its highly configurable capabilities. The Toughbook CF-33 detatchable laptop offers the best of all worlds for mobile workers – a fully rugged laptop with detachable keyboard and larger display tablet that can be used in multiple modes to meet a variety of business needs. Target industries for the device include police, emergency services, government agencies, defense, field service workers, maintenance and service technicians in the utilities and telecommunications field. An evolution of the best selling Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 and CF-20 products, this latest 2-in-1 detachable device is one of the first laptops powered by the latest generation IntelÆ CoreTM vProTM processor, delivering incredible performance, and is available with Windows 10 Pro Operating System (available Windows 7 Professional downgrade option). It also has a rich set of business interfaces with additional customizable options to meet a worker’s needs. For the tablet, these include USB 3.0, HDMI, LAN, micro SD-XC and headset ports. On the keyboard dock there are 2x USB 3.0, USB 2.0, LAN, Serial, HDMI, SD-XC and VGA ports. Additional tablet configuration options include second USB 2.0 port, Serial, Barcode Reader, Smartcard Reader, Contactless Smart Card Reader and Fingerprint Reader.

Two models
With its glove and rain enabled touchscreen and versatile ecosystem, the Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 laptop comes with a choice of two models, CF-33 2-in-1 detachable laptop (tablet with keyboard dock) or CF-33 tablet (tablet only), as well as an optoinal vehicle docking adapater for existing CF-31 vehicle docks, making CF-33 backward compatible with its predecessor’s vehicle docks.

Longer life
The twin hot swappable batteries provide the user with the ability to extend the battery life which is particularly useful for those mobile workers with limited access to power. The choice to change the battery while in operation means the Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 laptop has the ability to continously run during extra long shifts.

Highly flexible
With six different operating modes, the Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 laptop provides the best features of a laptop and tablet for business applications. The tablet can be detached or it can operate as a regular laptop.

Big and bright
Designed for outdoor use in bright sunlight or heavy rain, the Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 laptop has a 12″ 10-finger capacitive Dual touch QHD screen (2160 x 1440 pixels). Its 3:2 aspect ratio is ideal for viewing business applications for mobile field service professionals or Computer Aided Dispatch for law enforcement officers. Suitable for workers that need to operate touchscreens with gloves, the device uses the latest display technology providing a new level of viewing quality for tablet users working outside with its 1200 nit brightness. In addition, the device includes a IP55 digitizer pen for workers that need the highest levels of writing, drawing or signature accuracy in the toughest of weather conditions.

Superior performance
The Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 laptop is powered by the latest IntelÆ technology to deliver the horsepower mobile customers require, while ensuring a long and stable life cycle for years to come. The Toughbook CF-33 laptop is available with Windows 10 Pro OS when configured with a 7th generation Intel Core processor, and for customers who are still transitioning to Windows 10, there is also a Windows 7 Professional downgrade option when configured with a 6th generation Intel processor. The Toughbook CF-33 laptop with Windows 10 Pro OS comes with IntelÆ i5-7300U, 8GB RAM (4GB and 16GB project options) and 256GB SSD (project option 128GB and 512GB).

Effective communicator
The Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 laptop is equipped with a 2MP webcam with stereo microphones and 8MP documentation rear camera so users can easily capture and share images with other workers in the field. To ensure mobile workers are always connected to the business, the CF-33 offers a 4G LTE option for connection to the office and workforce management systems, and the option for the latest U-Blox NEO-M8 GPS for precise navigation.

Supporting ecosystem
The Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 2-in-1 detachable notebook has a full array of support peripherals to maximize a mobile workers productivity whether on the road or in the office.

The device’s slim, purpose-built vehicle dock comes with antenna pass-throughs for the strongest communications signal whille in the vehicle and full port replication to provide users with full functionality when docked. The tablet is removable when the keyboard base is in the dock. The device can also be locked in storage mode to keep it secure or in convertible mode to allow for secure messaging and access to the GPS functionality.

The sleek Desktop Port Replicator allows the Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 2-in-1 detachable laptop to be used as a high performance desktop device. The four bay battery charger is ideal for large organisations where the ability to charge multiple batteries can reduce work downtime.

Rugged yet user-friendly
The Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 laptop draws upon its heritage for ruggedness with a magnesium chasis, and IP65 rating and drop resistant up to 4 feet*2 making it ideal for all outdoor usage. But this latest generation of Toughbook laptops is more mobile than ever before, weighing just 2.761 kg (6.09 lb.) in laptop mode – with the detachable tablet weighing 1.527 kg (3.37 lb.).

Europe pricing and availability
The Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 comes with a standard 3 year warranty and will be available in 2nd Quarter of 2017. The Toughbook CF-33 2-in-1 detachable laptop model will be priced at € 3552 / £ 2627 + vat, and the Toughbook CF-33 Tablet only model will be priced at € 2992 / £ 2213 + vat .

US Pricing and availability
The Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 fully rugged detachable laptop will be available in the US early summer 2017 from authorized Panasonic resellers at an estimated price starting around $4,099 for tablet with keyboard and $3,499 for the tablet only.
