Metalogix Unveils ControlPoint 6.0 with Sensitive Content Manager for Personally Identifiable Information

Powered by a machine learning analysis engine, the SharePoint data loss prevention solution offers an easier, more accurate way to detect, classify, and secure sensitive content.

Metalogix, a provider of collaboration content management software to move, manage, and secure content on Office 365, SharePoint, and other enterprise content management (ECM) systems, has introduced the technology preview of Metalogix ControlPoint 6.0 with Sensitive Content Manager for Personally Identifiable Information (PII), a data loss prevention solution for detecting, classifying, and securing sensitive content in SharePoint.

Sensitive content breaches can occur in any business and the impact of these security incidents has become increasingly more pervasive. The IBM X-Force Threat Intelligence Report cited over one billion PII related records were breached in 2014 alone, an increase of more than 25 percent compared to 2013. To prevent these inadvertent or malicious threats and breaches today, an organization must scan, detect, classify, and then take action to prevent content breaches.

Metalogix Sensitive Content Manager, powered by a patent pending machine learning analysis engine, automates this critical security operation. This solution is designed to provide a more accurate and intelligent content scanning and identification, and when integrated with ControlPoint 6.0, the company’s permissions management solution, it automates the compliance lifecycle for intelligent sensitive content management.

“Inappropriate storage, access, and distribution of sensitive content combined with inadvertent and malicious insider threats can have significant and lasting negative financial, brand, and legal impacts on organizations. Just this past year, we witnessed breaches at AT&T, Anthem Inc. and Sony. These breaches demonstrate the level of impact on customer retention, employee privacy, and shareholder value,” says Steven Murphy, CEO, Metalogix. “With SharePoint, email and file content storage in the cloud is on a meteoric rise. Organizations that do not automatically detect, classify, and also apply the appropriate access permissions to sensitive content open themselves up to the possibility of severe penalties, lawsuits, and shareholder complaints.† Therefore, it was not a surprise when these requirements became a top three operational imperative to our 20,000 licensed clients. Metalogix is very excited to introduce this next generation solution, which delivers a vastly more intelligent and easier way to identify, manage, and secure sensitive content.”

“By combining machine learning sensitive content detection and classification through our market leading permissions and compliance administration solution ControlPoint 6.0, Metalogix is leap frogging traditional tools on the market,” adds Murphy. “Metalogix Sensitive Content Manager now provides customers with the ability to migrate and store content with the assurance that they are in compliance with both regulated and data retention policies. They can now feel comfortable knowing they have significantly reduced the risks associated with data breaches and inadvertent insider threats.”
