Level Platforms Adds Email and Security Features to Managed Workplace 2012

Feature Pack 1 simplifies email configuration, improves performance, and enhances security for new smartphones and tablets from Apple.

Remote monitoring and management software developer Level Platforms has introduced mobile device management (MDM) capabilities designed to help managed service providers (MSPs) simplify and speed email configuration, improve performance, and enhance security for new smartphones and tablets from Apple.

Now available as part of Managed Workplace 2012 R2 Feature Pack 1, the new capabilities enable SMBs to lower lower operating costs and address critical security concerns.†

“As device manufacturers expand the performance of mobile devices, we’re rapidly evolving our own MDM capabilities within the Managed Workplace platform to introduce new levels of configuration, management and monitoring for MSPs serving the SMB market,” says Level Platforms CTO Gordon Rielly.

New MDM features in Managed Workplace 2012 R2 Feature Pack 1 include iOS email configuration policies supporting EAS, in addition to POP3 and IMAP4 mail solutions. Using email policies, MSPs can automatically configure all iOS devices to receive corporate email with minimal end-user involvement or support from an internal IT organization. In addition, MSPs can now set options to improve email security, including preventing apps from accessing a user’s email account.

Level Platforms’ expanded MDM capabilities provide monitoring and management for all major smartphones and tablets, including devices from Apple, Google, Microsoft, and RIM. Managed Workplace MDM features enable MSPs to fully manage mobile devices for their end-clients, including simplified provisioning of email and network connectivity, automated asset information collection, monitoring and altering, comprehensive security features to track devices, restrict access, and wipe information if required.

New MDM features with Managed Workplace 2012 R2 Feature Pack 1 include:

  • Roaming Detection – Alerts the MSP when a device changes mobile networks to help control operating costs for their end-clients.
  • Configuration Policies – Improved iOS device security and functionality help clients reduce costs and administrate corporate usage guidelines, including regulating the ability for end-users to download, access, or delete applications, store documents in the cloud, share photos, and more.
  • Application Restrictions – Some apps can be restricted in iPhone and Android devices (i.e., cameras in high-security environments).

Managed Workplace 2012 R2 Feature Pack 1, including expanded MDM capabilities, is now available for Level Platforms Partners though the Update Center.†
