Lenovo Enlists Microsoft and Intel for ThinkPad Tablet 2

The tablet includes Windows 8, a 10.1-inch HD display, and tons of security features.

Lenovo has no shortage of Windows 8 options. However, the ThinkPad Tablet 2 combines the power of Lenovo, Microsoft and Intel to make one productive, mobile product.

The newly launched portable has the power and apps of Windows 8 Pro, with the touchability features these OS users are scrambling to get their hands on. Yes, this tablet is designed for hands-on use, via the unit’s 10.1-inch multi-touch HD display.

However, if you don’t want to put your dainty digits to work, the ThinkPad Tablet 2 has an optional digitizer pen with on-board storage, so you can take notes the old-fashioned way — and have everything stored safely right on your trusty, high-tech companion.

Weighing in around 1.25 pounds, the ThinkPad Tablet 2 packs in Intel’s Z2760 Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 64GB SSD. Despite that light weight, potential users should know that this is real workhorse, with Lenovo Cloud storage, Office support, videoconferencing options with front and rear webcams, and options for Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote.

Since this is going to become your go-to device, it also has plenty of security features, including multi-users logins, Trusted Platform Module, and Computrace Mobile. Other features include a USB port, a mini-HDMI port, a microSD card slot, and up to 10 hours of battery life.

Designed to tap into WiFi, 3G, 4G LTE (AT&T only), and WiFi Direct, Lenovo is selling the ThinkPad Tablet 2 now with a starting price of $699.
