Lenovo Brings ‘Touch’ to Its ThinkPad Ultrabook

With the X1 Carbon and X1 Carbon Touch, Lenovo adds the Windows 8 touch and gesture control experience to its ThinkPad laptop lineup.

PC manufacturer Lenovo has added the Windows 8 touch experience to the Ultrabook design in the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch.

The Thinkpad X1 Carbon and X1 Carbon Touch are developed from lightweight carbon fiber and are designed to “deliver durability and the highest levels of performance,” according to a Lenovo press release submitted to ChannelPro-SMB.

“Bringing touch gesture control to our ThinkPad is a natural evolution of the portfolio and a big step towards fulfilling our promise to bring computers into a new PC Plus era,” says Peter Hortensius, Lenovo’s product group president.

Specs & Features

Weighing in at 3.4 pounds and just 20.8mm thin, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch is constructed with carbon fiber material designed to provide “strength and durability beyond traditional notebook materials,” the press release states. Users are enabled with a 10-finger, multi-gesture touch interface on a 14-inch HD+ display.

The X1 Carbon Touch is powered by Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and integrates with Dolby Home Theater v4.

Certified as the first Ultrabook optimized for Microsoft Lync, the HD face-tracking camera and dual array microphones enable high quality video and voice track capabilities without the need for USB peripherals. †

For SMB security, the X1 Carbon Touch provides vPro, Integrated Fingerprint Reader, Trusted Platform Module, and BIOS encryption.

Pricing & Availability

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch is available now at www.lenovo.com or through Lenovo business partners. Prices start at $1,499.
