Latest Release of Comodo Dome Shield, a DNS-based Security Service, Offers Increased Efficiency and Profit Potential for Managed Service Providers

MSPs can seamlessly manage Dome Shield across multiple end customers with a single instance of Comodo ONE management console

CLIFTON, N.J., April 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Comodo, a global innovator and developer of cybersecurity solutions and the worldwide leader in digital certificates, today announced a new release of its Comodo Dome Shield DNS-based web security service for the network boundary. The new release greatly improves the value for managed service providers (MSPs) because Dome Shield integrates more tightly than ever with Comodo ONE, the tool that they use as a single pane of glass to manage Comodo products.

MSPs must be able to efficiently manage services for multiple end customers and require higher levels of integration in a competitive MSP marketplace. This latest release of Comodo Dome Shield raises the bar on the product’s ability to support the MSP business model. Service providers can now use a single instance of the Comodo ONE management console to seamlessly manage multiple end-customer instances of Comodo Dome Shield. This capability will greatly improve operational efficiency for MSPs while reducing their costs and enhancing profitability.

“This important release reinforces our commitment to help MSPs grow their businesses and better serve their customers,” said Melih Abdulhayoglu, CEO and chief security architect of Comodo. “Organizations both large and small increasingly look to managed service providers as a valuable element of their security strategy. As a cloud-delivered service, the Comodo Dome platform fits naturally into the MSP business model. This tighter integration between Comodo Dome Shield and Comodo ONE makes the value even more compelling.”

Comodo offers the Dome cloud-delivered security service in three tiers:

  • Comodo Dome Shield is the free DNS-based tier that blocks malicious websites, offers domain-level web filtering and includes advanced reporting and analytics
  • Dome Secure Web Gateway adds malicious file blocking, cloud sandboxing, file containment to address unknown or zero-day threats and granular URL filtering capabilities, among other features
  • Dome Enterprise adds antispam, data loss prevention and firewall modules—the lattermost including VPN and intrusion prevention capability. Customers may purchase the modules together or separately

MSPs can wrap their own services around the Dome Shield offering. For example, they could define web domain filtering policies for the end customer, offer rapid response to block newly emerging malware sites and use Dome Shield as the basis for customer reporting.

MKE Tech, an MSP in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has already started using Comodo Dome Shield. “Customers want to focus on their businesses and leave the IT security to us. We actively seek tools like Comodo Dome Shield that help us to improve their security as part of our service,” said John Gillis, president of MKE Tech. “The tighter integration between Comodo Dome Shield and Comodo ONE is a big step forward that will make us more efficient and effective in keeping customer IT environments secure.”

The possibilities for MSPs will grow stronger as Comodo plans to extend the tighter integration with Comodo ONE to Dome Secure Web Gateway later this year. MSPs can get started with Dome Shield and seamlessly evolve to future offerings.

Nearly 200 service providers have signed up for a Dome Shield account since Comodo started offering a free license for the product in January 2017—even in advance of the new, tighter integration with Comodo ONE. Total new sign ups across all customer types exceed 1,100 over that period.

MSPs, enterprises and SMBs can access the new Dome Shield functionality from within their Comodo ONE console. They, along with interested individuals, can also get a free license for Dome Shield at https://www.comodo.com/cdomeshield/freelicense/.
