Intel ISS 2014 Keynote: Big Growth and Opportunity in Mobile

Intel’s Maurits Tichelman, Vice President Sales & Marketing Group, took the stage at ISS 2014 to speak directly to Intel channel partners, addressing areas for growth, concern, and roadmaps for the year ahead.

Tichelman started off the keynote on a positive note, indicating very positive increases in channel growth despite some more disappointing revenue numbers reported a few weeks ago. Clearly Intel is investing heavily in new markets, and its channel partners are clearly the benefactors.

Tichelman started off the keynote on a positive note, indicating very positive increases in channel growth despite some more disappointing revenue numbers reported a few weeks ago. Clearly Intel is investing heavily in new markets, and its channel partners are clearly the benefactors.

Refocusing on the desktop client is a clear push for big blue, highlighiting that Enthusiasts are now a bigger area of focus than they have been in recent years. It’s current desktop business is good, but it’s ancilliary businesses are showing major growth. For example, Intel announced a 15% growth in SSD and a 28% growth in servers.

No one is ignoring the fact that Intel was late to the mobile game, like in SoC and tablets. The company is proud of the progress it has made, indicating that it had three models out in Q2 2013 and has ballooned to hundreds, all thanks to constant innovation in Intel SoC. The company promised this year that it would sell 40 million units in tablets, which is a number the company is currently on track to hit.
