Ingram Micro Expands Symantec Offerings and Solution Blueprint Library

The dual moves give resellers access to Symantec’s Integrated Cyber Defense solution portfolio and resources they can use to design cloud solutions and managed services for clients in specific industries.

Irvine, Calif.-based distribution giant Ingram Micro Inc. has deepened its relationship with security vendor Symantec Corp. and published a new set of technology “blueprints” for cloud computing solutions and managed services.

Under terms of the agreement with Symantec, of Mountain View, Calif., Ingram Micro will now offer Symantec’s Integrated Cyber Defense solution portfolio to its global reseller channel. That product family, which includes end point, email, data loss prevention, data center, cloud security, and secure web gateway solutions, is a product of Symantec’s $4.65 billion acquisition of web and cloud security vendor Blue Coat Inc. last June.

“Serving as a key global distribution partner for Symantec and expanding our authorization is rewarding and an opportunity we worked hard to secure and will certainly capitalize on,” said Thomas Bamrick, director of global vendor engagement at Ingram Micro, in a press statement. “Our ability to out execute and add greater business value to Symantec’s business is proven, and we are excited to build on our success and enable more channel partners worldwide to take advantage of all Symantec has to offer.”

Ingram Micro will back its enhanced Symantec offerings with sales, marketing, and technical support. Last September, the company was one of the first distributors to offer Symantec’s new SMB-focused Endpoint Protection Cloud solution through its cloud solution marketplace.

The new cloud computing and managed service blueprints announced today are designed to serve as comprehensive guides to end user needs and partner sales opportunities in specific vertical industries. Available through Ingram Micro’s Vertical Expo Live online learning environment, the documents include qualifying questions for assessing customer requirements and complete architectural reference designs for cloud and managed service solution offerings.

“Ingram Micro is simplifying success for our channel partners focused on high-growth vertical markets by offering real-time, actionable insights that will accelerate their time to market and shorten the sales cycle,” said Tom Blankenhorn, senior director of Ingram Micro U.S., in prepared remarks. “The opportunity around cloud and managed services is undeniable and the time is now for channel partners to do more with more by taking advantage of all Ingram Micro has to offer.”

The new cloud and managed services blueprints join a series of security solution guides posted on Vertical Expo Live last month. According to Ingram Micro, Vertical Expo Live has some 2,500 users at present.

Ingram Micro’s latest news comes on the heels of its announcement yesterday that it is the first company authorized to distribute the Cisco Spark collaboration platform through an online marketplace, and a day before its annual Cloud Summit event kicks off in Phoenix.
