Egenera Announces Compliance to the CISPE Cloud Data Protection Code of Conduct for GDPR

Wholesale Cloud Services Provider Joins CISPE as a Member Company

Egenera, a leading provider of wholesale cloud services to the global IT channel announced that its Xterity Cloud Services is fully compliant with the Cloud Infrastructure Services Providers Europe (CISPE) Code of Conduct for Data Protection. The company also announced that it has joined CISPE as a member company.

Egenera’s Xterity Cloud Services are sold one hundred percent through the channel and deliver a full range of dedicated, managed, private and public cloud services, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS), Backup as a Service (BaaS), and cloud migration.

The CISPE Code of Conduct provides a framework for data protection that makes it easier for businesses to assess if a cloud service provider’s infrastructure services provide proper safeguards for them to perform processing on personal data while meeting the compliancy obligations found in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which takes effect on May 25, 2018.

The CISPE Code of Conduct:

  • An effective, easily accessed framework for complying with the EU’s GDPR
  • Excludes the re-use of customer data
  • Enables data storage and processing exclusively within the EU
  • Identifies cloud infrastructure services suitable for different types of data processing
  • Helps citizens to retain control of their personal and sensitive data

“AAG relies on Egenera to be its trusted cloud provider, and the fact that Xterity is compliant with the CISPE framework means that we can deliver cloud services to our clients without worry,” said Michelle Walker, managing director at AAG, an IT services provider and Xterity partner based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, UK.

“We are working hard to help our clients prepare for GDPR and adherence to the CISPE framework will provide a comfort factor for our clients by further validating how seriously we take data protection,” said Roy O’Hanlon, head of professional services at ice cube, a leading provider of credit union software and Xterity partner in Galway, Ireland. “For us it will help take the guesswork out of GDPR preparedness.”

Till Brennan, Vice President, Sales, EMEA for Egenera said, “We’re proud to join CISPE as a member company and are looking forward to playing an active role in the organization. Egenera is one hundred percent in the business of serving our partners and their clients, wherever they’re located. With cloud instances located around the world, we strive to stay ahead of regulatory requirements so that our partners and their customers don’t have to worry about whether the infrastructure they rely on is compliant. With respect to CISPE, while data governance in the cloud is a shared responsibility, our partners and their customers have peace-of-mind knowing that we’re performing our role in a CISPE compliant manner. One critical point that some businesses may not be aware of is that the GDPR also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU.”

According to Brennan, “Our network of 250+ partners worldwide will see immediate value in our CISPE compliance. We’re looking forward to working with our partners to deliver enterprise-class, compliant cloud services in the coming months and years. At Egenera, we know our path to success requires us to first enable our partners to be successful. Staying ahead of regulatory requirements is just one way we help our partners succeed.”
