Eaton, an industrial manufacturer, has launched its latest addition to its backup power portfolio. The Eaton 5P uninterruptible power system (UPS) is a power management and battery backup solution for network closets and small data centers.
The new 5P supports entry-level virtualization strategies when integrated with Eaton’s Intelligent Power Software Suite and enhances equipment protection by combining remote metering and power hardware management capabilities. A graphical LCD display built into the front enables IT and data center manages to view and customize UPS settings easily. When integrated with Eaton’s power management software, users are offered insight into UPS power usage, efficiency, and load.
The 5P comes with the Eaton Intelligent Power Software Suite at no extra cost. Users can also integrate with VMware’s vCenter Server, Citrix XenServer, Microsoft SCVMM, Red Hat, and other Xen open source platforms. With integration, users can automatically and transparently migrate virtual machines during power disruptions to unaffected devices, while also providing a graceful shutdown of computers, VMs, and servers.
The Eaton 5P UPS models range from 1,500 VA (1,440 watts) to 3,000 VA (2,700 watts). The unit also features Eaton’s ABM technology that increases battery service life by 50 percent.
