Corsair Announces 16GB Flash Drive and Flash Voyager Mini
New duo of 16GB drives designed for users who want high performance and high portability.
Corsair, a provider of computer and flash memory products based in Fremont, Calif., has released a new 16GB high-performance “GT” Flash Voyager USB drive. The Flash Voyager GT uses hand-screened MLC NAND flash memory in a dual-channel configuration, combined with a high-speed controller IC to deliver rapid data reading and writing speeds that the company says are significantly faster than most USB flash drives. Applications range from backing up data or transporting office files, pictures, music, or even full-length movies.
The 16GB Flash Voyager GT also uses Corsair’s proprietary water- and shock-resistant, all-rubber casing so that users can be confident that their data is secure and protected from damage. According to Corsair, its Flash Voyager drives have been laundered, baked, frozen, boiled, dropped, and even run over by a SUV and the drives continue to work.

Corsair also announced that it is expanding its best-selling Flash Voyager Mini product family with a new 16GB model. The increased capacity is made possible by using chip-on-board technology, which allows for a large number of movies, music, photos, and personal documents to be stored in a format that is one third the size of typical USB Flash drives.
The Flash Voyager Mini has a capless retractable USB connector, which opens with the flick of the thumb. Its ergonomic rubberized housing also makes it easy to connect and disconnect from any computer. Like the GT Flash Voyager, the mini has a rubberized housing for protection.
