Buffalo and Axis Communications Team Up to Simplify Video Surveillance for Small Businesses

Buffalo Americas partners with Axis to offer a complete turnkey video surveillance NAS solution to small businesses looking for easy installation and deployment of a high-performance IP surveillance system.

Storage and networking solutions provider, Buffalo Americas, and network video manufacturer, Axis Communications, have teamed up to offer the TeraStation 5200 NVR and Axis Surveillance Solution, a video surveillance system for small businesses.†The TeraStation 5200 NVR with built-in support for AXIS Camera Companion and AXIS One-Click Camera Connection is a turnkey video surveillance solution that provides redundant managed storage and recording of video. A full Axis/Buffalo system includes a Buffalo TeraStation 5200 NAS, up to 16 Axis cameras, free AXIS Camera Companion software, and a Buffalo network switch.

The system is designed to offer scalable surveillance up to 16 cameras for homes and small businesses. This allows users to begin with a few cameras and scale up at any time without fees or hardware.

The Buffalo TeraStation 5200 NAS has been configured with a one-click set-up capability that offers quick network integration to AXIS Camera Companion software. AXIS Camera Companion software features an intuitive interface allowing users to search for live and recorded video with HDTV image quality.

Once installed, the system can record and playback video from any attached Axis network camera at any time, from anywhere, with recommended third party iOS and Android mobile viewing apps. Additionally, the Buffalo TeraStation 5200 NAS offers advanced RAID technology of feature redundant storage components that ensure maximum reliability and uptime.

TeraStation 5200 NVR features include:

  • Axis’ One-Click camera and NAS configuration
  • Supports up to 16 HDTV-quality Axis IP cameras
  • Provides redundant dual drive NVR technology
  • Equipped with two hot-swap NAS Edition hard drives designed for 24x7x365 recording
  • Support for third-party iOS and Android mobile apps
  • Pairs with a Buffalo PoE Web Managed Switch to power IP surveillance cameras and segment network traffic

Axis cameras include:

  • An open platform based on ONVIF standards to integrate with any ONVIF compliant hardware or software
  • ARTPEC chip set is custom built for video surveillance
  • High quality video can be streamed in 720p or 1080p HDTV
  • Axis offers multiple video compression options with H.264 and MJPEG
  • Motion detection and active tampering alarm pre-installed
  • The AXIS Camera Application Platform enables third party analytics and applications to run directly on equipped Axis cameras
  • Secured with password protection, IP address filtering, HTTPS encryption, IEEE 802.1X network access control, digest authentication, and a user access log
