AOC Debuts Four TAA Approved Displays, Wants One on Every Government Desk

Dell, Samsung, and ViewSonic may generally be the first brands you think of for displays, but with AOC's four new sub-$200 government approved displays, AOC may very well be the first vendor you turn to. By Matt Whitlock

AOC makes a huge variety of displays ranging from high-performance gaming displays to generic black monitors found in schools. The company's design and marketing has rubbed me the wrong way on a few occasions, but one common trait amoung AOC monitors is great image quality regardless of the price. Dell, Samsung, and ViewSonic may generally be the first brands you think of for displays, but with AOC's four new sub-$200 government approved displays, AOC may very well be the first vendor you turn to.

AOC touts its new TAA as ideal for home, business, or government use. In short, if there's a desk that needs a general-purpose monitor, this one fits the bill. The lineup ranges in size from 20 to 24 inches, and includes a bevy of image enhancement and power saving technologies. The design is simple but modern, with a slim profile, and options to be wall mounted. All four displays also feature a Kensington Security Slot for added anti-theft security.

Performance wise, AOC’s TAA approved monitors offer a 16.7 million color depth panel, 5ms response time and a "20,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio," which is said to reveal darker image areas in greater depth, but really is a big number just to be a big number. We'll have more to say about performance in our upcoming review. Want to see it in person? We'll be displaying the 24-inch model at our Tech Trends Live Event on April 9th, so if you're in the Anaheim, Calif. area and want to attend, register now.

We've published the spec chart we received below, which indicates that both 22- and 24-inch models offer a full 1080p resolution. The news release, however, specifically states that only the e2260Swdn-TAA and the e2460Swdn-TAA are 1080p. What are the other two, then? Your guess is as good as ours.

Not content with keeping these basic monitors well... basic, these TAA-approved monitors have some AOC add-ons that could be of interest. For example, the Screen+ software allows users to divide the display into up to four self-contained work areas so that multiple documents or programs can be viewed simultaneously, and there's an on-screen display menu supposedly navigable with a mouse for increased ergonomics.

All four displays are EPA Energy Star and EPEAT Gold certified, and contain mercury-free backlights as an added nod to Mother Earth. The four models include the 20-inch e2060Swda-TAA, the 22-inch e2260Swda-TAA and e2260Swdn-TAA, and the 24-inch e2460Sd-TAA. All are available now and include a three-year warranty.
