I remember when a 1280x1024 17" LCD monitor cost upwards of five hundred bucks; there were bigger ones, but you needed a small loan to afford one.
Today there are a wide variety of budget LCD displays available. Last year the large screen budget sweet spot was in the 20 to 22 inch range, but today there are many larger 23 and 24 inch LCD monitors with LED backlights hitting the budget price range.
Like any budget category, display makers cut corners to bring the price down. If you're not careful you could end up with a monitor not worth looking at... which kind of defeats the purpose. Don't worry, though; we've done all the leg work for you. Here are six large-screen (23" to 24"), budget LCD monitors that will please both your wallet AND your eyeballs for under $200.
