Vision Summit 2013 - Don't Miss This Opportunity

We are a little bit over a month out from the kick-off of our HTG Summer Event Series.  This series of blog posts will focus on each of the events that we are holding this summer - I encourage you to check your calendar, sign up, and plan to attend or mobilize your team to attend.  More so than ever in the past, this series of events embodies the HTG “Go-Giver” culture.  The team has had more input from members on the organization of these events than in the past and has created interactive events where every attendee will have the opportunity not only to come and learn and receive but also to share from their own experience and give back.

SES-header

This event series is designed to be aspirational but also very practical.  The goal at the end of the day is Action and Execution.  We don't want to provide nice events where you can come and learn some cool content and go home and return to life as usual.  You can get so much great content off of the Internet, and we live in an era where information and great events have never been more accessible or readily available.   The HTG Summer Event Series is designed to be more than just another series of events and more than just cool content because these events are designed to leverage the differentiator that makes HTG events different from any other event you might attend - the power of our unique HTG community

I hope you enjoy this series of blog posts, and I hope to see many of you in Omaha over the course of the summer.  It promises to be a busy season of coming together for actionable learning, networking, and living that learning out together in community.

VisionSummit 01

HTG Vision Summit

The first event right out of the gate is a brand new event that we are introducing this year.  It is the creative brain-child of our HTG President Scott Scrogin who designed the event to “Spread great ideas, spark meaningful conversations, and provide a forum where attendees can engage in animated discussion about how to translate new ideas into action.”  The focus of this event is really around ideas and people and is meant to be an innovative way to share ideas and network across the HTG Community beyond just your peer group.

I especially want to encourage you to apply to be a presenter at the Vision Summit.  Each one of you has ideas to share that really matter and could make a difference for others in the HTG Community.  Any topic is open to consider, whether large or small, IT-related or not.  The TED-style presentations will run around 15 minutes each followed by discussion and some down time to plan how these ideas fit into your priorities and future.

I would love to see every part of the HTG Community represented at this event, and we are already off to a good start.  We have had applications to present submitted from several members and a couple of our vendor partners, and Scott has stayed busy on the e-mail and phone talking with many more who are working through their idea and preparing to submit their application.  He would be happy to e-mail or talk with you via phone as well if you have questions.

A few applications have come in but there are still many open slots on the agenda to fill - there's a slot that could have your name on it.  This event is also open to the public.  Anyone can attend and apply to present.  We are looking forward to possibly hearing from some speakers from other industries and from the Omaha community.

Garrett Brucker, HTG member and President of Solve IT, took the first step and will be presenting on a healthcare topic: “People are walking around every day with really wonderful ideas - ideas that could solve common problems, help make someone's day a little smoother, or change the way we go about our lives. Some of those ideas could even be profitable. The Vision Summit provides an opportunity to flesh out and delve into those concepts with the insight and collective knowledge of a broader audience.”

The event is sponsored by ESET, a leading antivirus internet security provider.  ESET is excited to partner with HTG in sponsoring this new event, and I look forward to hearing about the idea that they will share.  Our vendor community is full of smart people who are incredibly well trained.  We're thankful to have ESET coming to the table to share and represent the vendor sponsor portion of our community.

A day and a half with a group of Vision-Focused leaders who come ready to give as much as to receive.  I am pumped about this new event and the impact that will come out of it as we share ideas and then go execute to make a difference in our respective patches.  The HTG Vision Summit promises to be something special.  Check out the details below and register to attend.

And since you're in the area for the Vision Summit, my wife Nancy and I invite you to stick around for a couple more days or bring the family along and enjoy a few days of Iowa hospitality at our 6th annual Weekend on the Farm.  There's no cost to attend.  We would enjoying being able to host you on the Techno Farm.  It's one way that Nancy and I and our family get to be “Go Givers” and give back to so many of you who have given so much to us.  Check it out and sign up to let us know you're coming.
