ViewSonic to Deliver 4K in 2 Very Different Displays

The new Ultra HD solutions will come in 32- and 84-inch sizes. By Rachel Cericola

Talk about trying to please a crowd. ViewSonic isn't just getting into the 4K business, but it's going to offer new Ultra HD (UHD) displays in small and large sizes -- perfect for just about any application.

In case you're new to UHD, just know that this technology can deliver images at four times the resolution of a 1080p display. ViewSonic will have this eye-popping offering available in both 32- and 84-inch sizes.

That 84-incher is geared towards interactive digital signage use, with the 32-inch VP3280 best suited to sit on the desktop.

ViewSonic is actually one of the first companies to offer a 32-inch 4K display. The VP3280 is good for graphic designers, cinematographers and videographers looking to get up close and personal with native pixel resolutions. Of course, it's also for those of you looking for the best of the best -- and don't mind spending around $5,000 to get it.

The 84-incher is designed with the commercial market in mind. Again, if you have the cash, you could probably snag one of these for the office or living room. However, ViewSonic has yet to announce pricing and competitors have similar sizes listed for as much as $25K. Yeah, that's $25,000. That said, this model has two-point touch features, in case you want to get interactive beyond the occasional hug.

"As the leader in display technology for more than 25 years, we have been at the forefront of many firsts, from ultra fast 2ms and 1ms monitors to 120Hz active stereo 3D desktop displays," said Jeff Volpe, president of ViewSonic Americas. "We will continue to closely monitor the Ultra HD market, and are in position to productize quickly once conditions warrant the shipment of solutions that hold true to our value proposition."
