Good news for IT solution providers: The importance of IT to business success continues to trend upward. Most businesses want to improve their use of IT and adopt newer technologies such as cloud computing.
That's one of the highlights from CompTIA's International Technology Adoption and Workforce Issues study conducted February 22 to March 23, 2013, among 1,256 IT and business executives in 12 countries with responsibility for setting or executing IT policies in their organizations. The countries participating in the survey include Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
The study also highlighted the IT skills gap that remains a challenge for many businesses. For example, only a few organizations report that they are where they want to be in terms of IT staff experience and expertise. More than half of the executives surveyed also report unease with the quantity and quality of IT talent available for hire.
Channel organizations are in a good position to alleviate such staffing and technology concerns by demonstrating their experience and expertise in several areas of strategic importance to the types of companies surveyed, including using technology to gain new customers, cloud computing, security, storage, network infrastructure, and updating aging computers and software, among others.
