Networking manufacturer D-Link has released its Covr AC3900 Wi-Fi System (Covr-3902), a preconfigured wireless network system that includes a wireless router and extender and covers up to 6,000 square feet.

"Today's Wi-Fi users are continually adding devices to their network and pushing its limits with high-bandwidth activities like streaming 4K content and online gaming. With Covr, we wanted to provide a solution that could not only handle multiple devices streaming, gaming and surfing all at once, but also give users wall-to-wall coverage without any Wi-Fi dead spots," says Oscar Reyes, vice president of marketing, D-Link Systems. "Covr provides one seamless, high-powered network for a simple, user-friendly whole home Wi-Fi solution."

According to D-Link, unlike other solutions that rely on multiple access points, the Covr system employs its premium AC2600 router as the foundation of its networking capabilities.

D-Link says the AC2600 creates a "PowrZone" to enable users to get the strongest possible signal, as well as network speeds that are said to be twice as fast as its competitors to support activities such as Ultra HD 4K streaming, lag-free gaming and streaming audio content.

The company also points out that as integrators add devices to a Covr-based network, the system's intuitive technologies help to manage the network through its Smart Steering feature that balances the load between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless bands.

D-Link says Covr steers devices to specific bands to optimize device performance, and creates a seamless network with a single network name (SSID) to allow homeowners to move throughout their properties and automatically connect to the strongest signal — eliminating the need to disconnect and reconnect.

Other features include a complementary D-Link Wi-Fi app, which provides system setup and management, and MU-MIMO technologies which enable the system to efficiently handle large groups of concurrent users.

The D-Link Covr AC3900 Wi-Fi System retails for $300.
