ATEN KL3116TATEN Introduces First Dual-Rail LCD KVM Switch with Touch Screen

Switch is designed for server operations in which administrators need quick configuration changes.

Irvine, Calif.-based ATEN Technology, Inc. announced a touch screen, dual-rail LCD KVM switch. The Touch Screen LCD KVM (KL3116T) is an all-in-one KVM switch that offers access to up to 16 servers with support for either USB or PS/2 in a 1U rack configuration. The new model is the company’s latest addition to its lineup of rackmount LCD KVM solutions and is part of its ALTSUEN product line. Available now, the LCD KVM (KL3116T) is priced at $3,499 and backed by a three-year warranty program.

“Our new Touch Screen LCD KVM (KL3116T) is uniquely suited for server operations where administrators require quick configuration changes such as industrial, manufacturing, and laboratory environments,” says John Owen, director of sales, ATEN Technology, Inc. “By integrating touch-screen functionality into the LCD panel, users enjoy the convenience and productivity gains of managing servers with quick touch and tap commands instead of a mouse.”

Based on a dual-rail design, the LCD KVM (KL3116T) features a high-resolution 17-inch touch screen LCD monitor and keyboard with built-in touchpad. To optimize server room real estate, the keyboard can slide back while the touch screen LCD panel remains in plain sight to monitor and troubleshoot servers–even with the server rack door closed. By daisy chaining additional serial KVM switches, the switch can control up to 512 computers or servers from a single keyboard, touch screen monitor, and mouse console.

Highlights include:

Dual-Rail Design – the KVM is equipped with an independent slide-out keyboard and LCD screen with an integrated touchpad

Dual Interface – a keyboard, mouse, and monitor can be connected to the switch via PS/2 and USB ports

KVMP Feature – a USB peripheral port allows IT administrators to connect additional devices, conduct data backup, or apply application and operating system patches

Additional USB Mouse Support – an extra USB port supports an external mouse for added convenience

ATEN Technology is showcasing the Touch Screen LCD KVM as well as previewing a new SME-specific 24-port IP KVM and software-based IP management solution at this week’s Interop Las Vegas 2009 conference at booth #2213.
