You've got a pretty great job. You like the people, the pay, and even the office chair. Even better, you can spend most of the day surfing the web, checking Facebook, and doing a little online shopping. The occasional YouTube video or Facebook update won't make you stick out like a sore thumb. However, if you think you can get by with that type of workday every day, think again.
Several employers are starting to crack down on what you can do at work. That's right; your boss may actually be watching you -- and with good reason. According to a recent report by forensic accounting firm Kessler International, over 30 percent of survey respondents admitted to falsifying time records at their job. Out of the 500 employees interviewed, 95 percent also admitted theft of items ranging from office supplies to corporate secrets. Of course, your boss knows when you're not at your desk or spending too much time talking to the cute girl/guy in accounting. It's when you're at your desk that may not be so obvious. Don't bother putting on your best work face. There are ways that your boss can track what you're doing with that computer, smartphone, and/or tablet.
Checking your computer's browser history is an easy way to get a look at someone's online activities. However, there are plenty of other ways your boss can sneak a peek. In fact, it may be someone besides your boss. There's more than one Edward Snowden out there, you know. Think nobody sees what you're doing? Think again; it could get you fired -- or worse. Let's look at 8 ways your boss may be watching you at work.
