Kamanja Platform Combines Cybersecurity and Compliance for Services Providers

The Israeli startup offers a managed services platform that combines and automates cybersecurity and compliance activities — and its recruiting for MSP partners.

Regulatory compliance is a daunting challenge for companies of any size, especially small businesses, due to the complexity and costs involved. But a newcomer in cybersecurity and compliance services aims to change that.

Shay Cohen of Kamanja

Israeli startup Kamanja offers a managed services platform that combines and automates cybersecurity and compliance activities that typically require multiple tools. It allows MSPs and MSSPs to manage both tasks from a single platform, simplifying processes and reducing costs, said Kamanja co-founder and CEO Shay Cohen.

The platform benefits providers and their clients, making it possible to achieve compliance with relevant frameworks in hours or days, Cohen explained. The platform was designed to be easy to learn, implement, and maintain, he added.

“We want to help small businesses like us to go through these expensive processes and be more secure because we knew most of the attacks are against small businesses.”

Much-needed Security for SMBs

Though frequent targets of threat actors, small businesses have limited resources to fight them off. And when it comes to compliance, small businesses typically need help from experts to wade through regulatory requirements that keep multiplying.

With Kamanja, providers can scan client environments for cybersecurity vulnerabilities and threats, perform risk management using automated AI or manual inputs, and manage assets such as hardware, software, security controls, and network infrastructure.

The platform has modules for security requirements and automates tasks involved in achieving compliance with regulatory and standards frameworks such as ISO27001, the Eurozone’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Learn and Share

MSPs and MSSPs can leverage Kamanja to protect their own businesses as well as their clients, according to Cohen. By deploying the platform internally, providers can learn the ins and outs of the technology, then apply their newfound knowledge to their clients’ environments.

3rd Element Consulting, an MSP in Mechanicsburg, PA, signed with Kamanja after learning about it at an industry event, said co-founder and CEO Dawn R. Sizer. Compared with others, Kamanja’s platform had the features that best suited her company’s needs, including compliance processes for Center for Internet Security (CIS), Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) and HIPAA, she said.

For instance, Kamanja can identify a security gap that was previously missed, prompting the provider to apply a patch.

“What it can do is give you that vulnerability piece,” Sizer noted. “You can see where you or your client is potentially vulnerable, do an appropriate risk assessment, and remediate.”

Cohen said Kamanja is a comprehensive solution that lets MSPs and MSSPs add revenue by showing clients how to address security risks. The platform integrates with ConnectWise, HaloPSA, Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and Amazon Web Services with more integrations on the way.

Kamanja also helps clients get cyber insurance by automating compliance with more than 40% of insurers requirements, he said.

Wanted: MSP Partners

Kamanja is in partner recruitment mode at industry events, demonstrating the platform and sharing collateral with potential partners, said Cohen. On the technology side, he added, Kamanja is paying attention to partner feedback and requests, adding capabilities that partners need. “We develop only what the MSPs ask for, not what we want.”

Sizer can attest to that. When she requested a HIPAA compliance module, Kamanja provided it within three weeks, she said. That level of responsiveness is one of the main reasons she works with Kamanja. She likes that the company has an internal development team and is open to continually adding features, Sizer said.
